Ester Naomi Perquin (1980) grew up in Zierikzee and now lives in Rotterdam. She made her debut in 2007 with Servetten halfstok and went on to publish collections such as Namens de ander (2009) and Celinspecties (2012), the latter earning her the VSB Poetry Prize. She served as Rotterdam’s city poet from 2011 to 2012 and was Poet Laureate of the Netherlands from 2017 to 2019. In 2025 she released her first novel, Tot alles in beweging komt. Her work is praised for its keen eye for the everyday, its wry humour and the breadth with which she addresses social themes.
