Koen De Bouw (1964) is widely regarded as one of the leading Flemish actors of his generation. He studied theatre at the renowned Studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp and made his film debut in 1988 with Han De Wit. Since then, he has played over thirty leading roles in Belgian and international feature films and appeared in numerous TV series that have earned recognition abroad, establishing him as a mainstay of the Belgian film scene.

Throughout his career, De Bouw has collaborated closely with acclaimed directors such as Erik Van Looy and Jan Verheyen. Under Van Looy’s direction, he delivered standout performances in The Alzheimer Case (2003), Loft (2008), Dossier K. (2009), and De Premier (2016). International audiences took note of him for his role alongside Matt Bomer and Kelsey Grammer in Amazon’s series The Last Tycoon (2016). He has continued to impress with notable roles in the hit series Professor T. (2015), the Flemish-Dutch co-production Grenslanders (2019), and the submarine thriller Torpedo(2019). In 2020, he appeared alongside Monica Bellucci in The Man Who Sold His Skin, a film nominated at both the Venice Film Festival and the Oscars.

In recent years, De Bouw has continued to showcase his versatility through new film and television projects. Among his latest achievements is his role in the historical drama series Breendonk, in which he shares the screen for the first time with his son.
