"Van de Velde’s excellent piano playing is complemented by his informative booklet essays on the composer and the music. The high-resolution recording was made in Luxembourg on a superb Steinway. This recording is most definitely on the same level as Lugansky’s and contains more music. I would be hard pressed to choose between the two and am pleased to have both."

"Iil se dégage de ces interprétations un beau sentiment d’harmonie et d’ailleurs, cette approche sert les œuvres dont le tissu polyphonique apparaît toujours clairement."

"Here’s another outstanding world-premiere recording: the six-voice, all-male Dionysos Now! ensemble, led by Tore Tom Denys, has undertaken a project to record little-known works by the most famous composer to come from Denys’ home town of Roeselare: Adriaan Willaert. [...] The Mass’s unusual structure is worth reading about, and as always with this group the singing is outstanding.

„Weinberg lets them tell, complain, remember, invoke, report, affirm. The music ́s „speaking“ gesture is, in a way, hugged by Peter Wispelwey as a fabulous solo cellist who also adds a touching emotionality which in no moment slips away into sentimentality or agitation.“

"Roth sustains his flawlessly smooth, luxuriously tones sonority, so that each movement emerges in terms of its majestic formal perfection, undistracted by interpretive tricks and quirks."

"Pieter Wispelwey inflects the solo cello part with tremendous artistry, sculpting Weinberg's melodic lines with a wonderful sence of colour and imagination yet without succumbing to indulgent emotion even int he most heart-rending passages. The Belgian ensemble Les Métamorphoses under the direction of Raphaël Feye are admirably responsive partners [...] A word of praise too for the recording which captures these fine performances in stunningly vivid sound."

„Inspired by the works of Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Sir Roger Norrington, the Belgian orchestra Les Métamorphoses has set itself the task of creating a new richness of sound by combining modern and old instruments.“

„Compared to Wallfsh (cpo), Wispelwes ́s solo parts are much more eloquent and colorful, partly with the inclusion of certain freedoms (occasional rubato, tasteful portamenti, smaller decorations and nuances on the articulation). The orchestra also contributes to these lively, spirited interpretations.“

"This is a terrific disc, providing a tantalising picture of a composer about whom we still know so little. How this music and his life fits together, how he thought of the music. But the performances are vividly present and full of warmth and intensity. There is a vein of melancholy underlying even the most beautiful moments and all three works warrant repeated listening."

„With the ensemble Les Metamorphoses, Pieter Wispelwey and Raphael Feye, also a cellist but here active as a conductor, give these works by Weinberg a primarily restrained elegiac character, in which only sporadically cheerful dance-like sections blossom. This fits in with Weinberg’s life situation and the resulting compositions. The performers savor these muted colors of the music and also the more lively passages without exaggerating into melancholy or, on the other hand, excessive exaltation ...the participants create a musically successful picture of these works from Weinberg’s pen.“

"The six-voice male Dionysos Now! ensemble seeks to remedy that with these sonically and musically sumptuous recordings, which not only showcase heartbreakingly beautiful compositions but also a surprisingly rich vocal sound; normally a small-force male ensemble isn’t my favorite, but this one sounds amazing."

"The sound is admirable in its clarity and less unyielding than the previous releases, and Roth’s notes are perceptive without becoming wantonly enthusiastic. He deserves credit from Weinberg devotees and newcomers alike for such formidable and unstinting advocacy."

„On this album, simple singing turns into the most powerful form of speech about a hopeless present: an overwhelming listening impression om the sense if the word, right down to the last second o this forgotten music.“

Erik Levi
"The present performance must surely rank amongst the finest. Roth and his regular duo partner José Gallardo, together with the exceptionally eloquent cellist Danjulo Ishizaka, have an instinctive feel for the idiom and know exactly when to ratchet up the tension, as in the blistering rhythmic energy of the ‘Toccata’ and pulsating fugal writing of the ‘Finale’, and when to provide calm reflection, as in the closing passage of the ‘Praeludium and Aria’ and the recitative passages of the ‘Poem’. A word of praise, too, for the recording which has a staggering immediacy that fully matches the urgency of Weinberg’s writing in the Trio."

"The C major Sonata is particularly winning with a serene opening Adagio and an exultant concluding Allegro which avoids any hint of flashy display."
